The Home would like to express our many thanks to the volunteers who have helped the Home’s activities or events in one way or another. We thank you for giving your time and effort in making the project a successful and enjoyable one.

“Hi, volunteers! Today is your big day – recognition of your efforts and sacrifice of your time for us in the Home.

My name is Stephen Sng. I have been a resident in Singapore Cheshire Home for more than 24 years. Actually the Home gives me an impossible task to do. I have only 5 minutes to talk about what the volunteers have been doing for us all these years. Allow me to do it in this way.

Personally, I can’t imagine life in the Home without volunteers.

I would like to ask you a few questions. See if you together, including the residents can answer me in one word. Who help us with the hydroponics? Who accompany us when we go for outing? Who makes phone calls for us? Who will run errands for us? Who are like our hands and legs? Who helps us to make music and sing songs?

Volunteers!!! Very good! Thank you. Personally, I can’t imagine life in the Home without volunteers. In fact, I shudder at the thought of that. Therefore, I finally make this appeal to you, volunteers. No matter how busy you are, don’t forget us.

Last but not least, on behalf of the residents, I want to thank you for the wonderful things you have been doing for us in the Home all these years.”

- Resident, Mr Stephen Sng -

“Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, friends and fellow residents. Today, I am honoured to be here on behalf of all residents, to express our gratitude to the volunteers of our Home, for the important role that they play in our lives.

We recognize and appreciate the valuable difference that you have made to the people in this Home.

Without volunteers, our lives in the Home would be so different, and even dreary. Volunteers enrich our existence in so many ways. From bringing us on walks or eagerly anticipated outings, to helping us with our chores, or even just lending a listening ear, volunteers have contributed significantly to our comfort and happiness. Indeed, you are not just volunteers; you have also become our friends. We always look forward to the interactions that we have with you, and to the activities that you plan for us, as these make our lives more interesting, and hopefully yours too.

Today, we recognize and appreciate the valuable difference that you have made to the people in this Home. We thank you for giving your time and effort in making our lives a little easier and more pleasant. I hope that many such friendly faces and helpful friends will always be among us.

Thank you and I wish you a happy and meaningful Volunteers’ Day!”
